Handprint Poem
Sometimes you get discouraged
Because I am so small
And always leave my fingerprints
On furniture and walls.

But every day I'm growing - -
I'll be grown up someday
And all those tiny handprints
Will surely fade away.

So here's a final handprint
Just so you can recall
Exactly how my fingers looked
When I was very small.

CHILDREN LEARN WHAT THEY LIVE
If children live with criticism, they learn to condemn.
If children live with hostility, they learn to fight.
If children live with ridicule, they learn to be shy.
If children live with shame, they learn to feel guilty.
If children live with tolerance, they learn to be patient.
If children live with encouragement, they learn confidence.
If children live with praise, they learn to appreciate.
If children live with fairness, they learn justice.
If children live with security, they learn to have faith.
If children live with approval, they learn to like themselves.
If children live with acceptance and friendship,
they learn to find love in the world.

For the Love of Children
By Tanya Birt

See the children smile
See the children dance
This is my future
I've got to take the chance.

Playdough, paint
Songs and poems
Exercise, dress-up
This is their second home.

Blocks, letters, shapes,
Books, puzzles and games
"Laugh, children, laugh"
I call each of their names.

Field trips, outdoor play
Walks, visits and naps
Bang on the drum
With a rap-tap-tap.

Many things come
Many things go
Like the children you have to
Practice what you know.

Understanding, patience
Creative, motivated and wise
I know I love children
When I see their eyes.

Forever in My Heart

Although I'm not their mother
I care for them each day.
I cuddle, sing and read to them
And watch them as they play.
I see each new accomplishment
I help them grow and learn,
I understand their language
I listen with concern.
They come to me for comfort,
I kiss away their tears.
They proudly show their work to me
I give the loudest cheers!
No, I'm not their mother,
But my role is just as strong.
I nurture them and keep them safe
Though maybe not for long.
I know someday the time may come
When they will have to part,
But I know each child I cared for
Is forever in my heart!

Mother's Day Poem
Five flower baskets sitting on the floor.
One will go to _______ mom.
Four flower baskets, pretty as can be.
One will go to _________ mom.
Three flower baskets, red and blue.
One will go to ______ mom.
Two flower baskets, bright as the sun.
One will go to ______ mom.
One flower basket, oh it's sure to go
To your very own mother, who is the nicest one you know.

Children

A moment in my arms, forever in my heart.
